Third meeting of Task Force updated on economic recovery plan.
Actions to boost business and leisure will make Fraserburgh more attractive place to live and work in, Business Minister Fergus Ewing said today.
£1 million support for the Fraserburgh 2021 project from the Scottish Government's Regeneration Capital Grant Fund, announced last month, will provide quality, affordable and accessible sports facilities and see a new Enterprise Hub with state-of-the-art business facilities created at the former police station on Kirk Brae.
The Fraserburgh Task Force met for the third time today and Mr Ewing also welcomed assurances given today by Young's for their continued commitment to Fraserburgh.
Mr Ewing said:
"The £1 million regeneration funding will create new sport and business facilities to make Fraserburgh a more attractive place to live and work, supporting the town's small businesses and creating new jobs.
"In collaborating across the public and private sector, the Task Force is delivering results on the economic recovery plan.
"'The Scottish Government's PACE initiative arranged a hugely successful jobs fair, attended by 300 people, and plan to run another one on May 10. The Scottish Government and Aberdeenshire Council is funding a new bus service and the Council are conducting a feasibility study for an electronic auction in Fraserburgh.
"We're working with the seafood sector to increase resilience, develop international markets and to help shape a seafood skills action plan to be published next month. I also welcome the Task Force's close links with the ONE group to provide a strategic focus for Fraserburgh within the North East."
Councillor Richard Thomson, co-leader of Aberdeenshire Council said:
"I am pleased with the support to the workforce to date and delighted with assurances for continued support and commitment to the area. We will continue to work in partnership to support the economic regeneration of the area"
