Scotland's Chief Statistician today announced the publication of the latest Index of Manufactured Exports for the first quarter of 2016.

This quarterly publication measures changes, in constant-price and seasonally-adjusted terms, in export sales to the rest of the world from manufacturing businesses located in Scotland.

The main findings are:
• The volume of Scottish manufactured export sales fell by 0.5 per cent during the first quarter of 2016.
• On a rolling-annual basis, comparing the latest four quarters to the previous four quarters, manufactured export volumes contracted by 2.1 per cent.

The Scottish Government are holding an open consultation on the future of the Index of Manufactured Exports for Scotland.
