Environment Secretary seeks talks with UK Government.
Scotland's Environment Secretary, Richard Lochhead, is to seek talks with the UK Government following confirmation that 1.2 million cars in the UK, including Audi, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen vehicles had been adjusted to pass emissions tests.
Mr Lochhead said:
"It is outrageous that consumers and government have been misled over vehicle emissions and we must have immediate answers and redress from the manufacturers involved.
"While the first priority must be to ensure that customers are informed as soon as possible, the manufacturers involved must take wider responsibility for the environmental impact of this deception.
"We are seeking to establish how many vehicles in Scotland are affected and over what period of time these vehicles have been adjusted. There are implications for every level of government and I am keen to discuss a co-ordinated response with UK counterparts."
