Engagement with business and industry on decarbonisation

We are working with businesses across Scotland to support transition to a low carbon economy. This includes helping businesses to use their experience, adaptability and willingness to diversify to become more competitive.

With the publication of the Climate Change Plan and the Energy Strategy – alongside our commitment to establish a Just Transition Commission this year – we will continue to deepen our engagement with Scotland's business community.

We are committed to growing our understanding of the opportunities, and to building a supportive regulatory and business development environment in which Scottish businesses, workers and communities can thrive.

We fund a number of programmes supporting businesses to transition to a low carbon economy:

The Environmental Placement Programme

The Environmental Placement Programme (EPP) supports businesses to recruit graduates to work on environmental projects. Interns are supported throughout their placement and gain valuable work experience in the sector, while helping their host company to reduce emissions and improve their green credentials.

VIBES

VIBES is an awards scheme developed to celebrate businesses in Scotland that are taking steps to improve or reduce their impact on the environment.
