How can these measures help?
Case Study A: External Wall Insulation, South Ayrshire
External wall insulation was applied to 18 houses in South Ayrshire as part of the Scottish Government's Home Energy Efficiency programme for Scotland: Area Based Schemes (HEEPS: ABS). As a result, a fuel cost average yearly saving of £270 was seen in households. Following installation, the average EPC rating of these properties improved from band D to band C. Householders shared that as a result of the installation they now enjoy warmer homes that are easier to heat and have seen a reduction in draughts, con-densation, and noise.
Case Study B: Central heating system, Glasgow
Mr C had to rely on plug-in heaters in his property because of an inefficient heating system. With young children in the home, it was important to him to provide a warm and healthy environment for his family. He was referred to Home Energy Scotland and was eligible for the installation of a new central heating system under the Warmer Homes Scotland scheme. His EPC rating increased from band F to band C, which is a significant increase and has helped to secure a peace of mind when the bills come and a warmer home for his family.
