Suicide prevention action plan: engagement paper

This paper invites public comment on proposals for a future suicide prevention action plan.

Paper has been developed following extensive pre-engagement including events which directly involved people who have been bereaved by suicide and those who provide support to those affected by suicide.

Paper designed to continue the strong downward trend in suicide rate – the rate has reduced by 17% in last decade.

Paper invites comments on 4 overarching themes: o Improving the use of evidence, data & guidance on suicide prevention; o Modernising the content and accessibility of suicide prevention training; o Maximising the impact of national and local suicide prevention activity; o Developing the use of social media and online resources to provide better support to people at risk of suicide.
