Information requested

  • How many cancellations and delays have there been on the Scotrail Edinburgh to Tweedbank and vice versa journey since the line reopened?

  • How many complaints have been received with regards to the above service since it was reopened?

Response

1. How many cancellations and delays have there been on the Scotrail Edinburgh to Tweedbank and vice versa journey since the line reopened?

In the period from 6th September 2015, when the line re-opened, to 14th August 2017:

  • 40,176 trains were planned to run on the Borders Line

  • 1,182 of these trains were cancelled, either in full or in part,

  • 4,099 of these trains were delayed beyond 5 minutes of their timetabled arrival time

  • So, some 34,895 trains were regarded as having met industry performance targets during this period (86.9 percent).

2. How many complaints have been received with regards to the above service since it was reopened?

Transport Scotland does not hold the volume of complaints at a route level.
