Date received: 6 September 2017
Date responded: 4 October 2017

Information requested

In relation to the decision to launch a new PGCE (Secondary) with Supported Induction Route with the University of Dundee, I would like to request information regarding the evidence that supported this decision. In particular, can you please provide me with (a) a copy of all the evidence used to support this decision, (b) information, including any mail or email correspondence, on what discussion were had with any experts in relation to this decision, (c) who the experts were, and (d) what influence the experts had in supporting the decision to launch the PGCE (Secondary) with Supported Induction Route.

Response

I enclose a copy of all of the information you requested. Parts of the documentation relate to other new routes into teaching and is, therefore, out of the scope of your request. You also asked about what advice the Scottish Government had from experts to assist in reaching their decision. This initiative was developed by staff in the University of Dundee's School of Education and Social Work and was supported by the Scottish Council of Deans of Education, who are highly experienced and respected practitioners in the discipline of teacher education. The initiative was based upon the experience of assessing examples of good practice in another institution.
