Information requested

• Details of the Scottish Government's sponsorship team to the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry. Information should include who comprises the team, when they were appointed, their position at the Scottish Government, and who they report to. Information should also include previous members of the sponsorship team from January to July 2016.

Response

Annex A provides some of the information you have requested however we are unable to provide you with the remaining information you have requested because an exemption under section 38(1)(b) (personal data relating to a third party). The reason why this exemption applies is explained below.

Reasons for not providing information

An exemption under section 38(1)(b) of FOISA (personal information) applies to the information requested because it is personal data of a third party, ie names of individuals, employment records etc and disclosing it would contravene the data protection principles in Schedule 1 to the Data Protection Act 1998. This exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
