Information requested

A breakdown of Council Tax income by Scottish local authority area. Please supply totals of both billed and collected Council Tax for each Local Authority according to the financial years in question. Data for each of the financial years 2014 to present.

This could be in the form of an Excel spreadsheet for convenience, but any easily readable format would suffice.

This request is an update to a prior request made on 8 October 2014, your reference appears to be FoI 14 01637.

I enclose a copy of all of the information you requested in the format you asked for.

The attached Excel workbook has two sheets showing:

1. 'Billed' – the Council Tax billed in each billing year, as at 31 March 2017. This indicates the maximum amount that could possibly be collected.

2. 'Collected' – the Council Tax collected as at 31 March 2017. For the most recent year, 2016-17, the figures of course show in-year collection only, and therefore exclude any late payments made after 31 March 2017.

This information is derived from returns made by local authorities at the end of each financial year. As noted, all information provided represents the position at the end of 2016-17, and reflects all changes to Council Tax liabilities and monies collected to that point.
