Information requested

Whether the Scottish Government has adopted the full International Holocaust
Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of anti-Semitism, including the
examples which follow the definition.
Whether the Scottish Government has adopted the following four examples:

• Holding Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel
• Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavour
• Applying double standards by requiring of it a behaviour not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.
• Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.

Response

The Scottish Government formally adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism in June 2017, and our adoption includes all of the accompanying examples of contemporary anti-Semitism provided by the IHRA.
