Appeal form and guidance notes for a monument designation appeal.

This document is part of a collection

You have the right to make a monument designation appeal to Scottish Ministers where Historic Environment Scotland:

  • includes a monument in the schedule of monuments
  • amends a monument's entry in the schedule

The attached guidance explains:

  • what the appeals process is
  • how to complete and submit your form
  • how to get in touch
  • how to send documents to the DPEA electronically
Warning

Your appeal must be made within three months after the issue of Historic Environment Scotland's decision. Appeals made after this cannot be considered.

There is no fee for this type of appeal. Everybody who participates in the process is normally expected to cover their own expenses.

You can track the progress of your appeal online.
