Information requested

1. I am looking for both inspection and other reports/information written by the Registrar of Independent Schools, within the aforementioned timeframe (21 January 2015 - 21 January 2018).

2. I would also like any and all inspection and other/reports information (pertaining to improvement measures) written by Education Scotland.

Response

In response to your first question, while our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance Education Scotland does not have the information you have requested pertaining to the Registrar of Independent Schools. This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that Education Scotland does not have the information you have requested. The Registrar of Independent Schools is a separate, independent public authority for the purposes of Freedom of Information. If you wish to obtain information from the Registrar you should contact them directly at: independentschools@educationscotland.gsi.gov.uk.

Please note that the Registrar of Independent Schools does not conduct or hold inspection reports as these are undertaken by HM Inspectors of Education within Education Scotland.

In response to the second part of your request, all inspection reports and improvement frameworks for the time period in question are available in the public domain via Education Scotland's website. The list of independent school reports published within the time period is provided at Annex A. This is a formal notice under section 25(1) that the information is otherwise accessible. Additional improvement information, Section 66 and other reports including relevant Annual Engagement Visit and Monitoring Reports on Progress with Conditions are now attached, see list at Annex B - schedule of documents - together with the attachments.

Our aim is to provide information whenever possible, however in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information requested because it has been necessary to apply exemptions under FOISA - Sections 25(1), information already accessible; Section 38(1)(b), personal information and Section 39(1), disclosure would, or would be likely to, endanger the physical or mental health or safety of an individual.
