Response

The answer to your question is that in 2023/24 the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society received £550,000 from the Scottish Government EXPO Festivals Fund.

Since 2018 the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society has received an annual funding allocation of £166,667 through the Scottish Government PLaCE programme.

Further details on recipients of the EXPO Festivals Fund (in operation since 2007) may be found using this URL: £1.8 million for Scotland’s world-class arts festivals - gov.scot (www.gov.scot)

The Scottish Government EXPO Festivals funding, administered through Creative Scotland, furthers the commitment to develop an International Culture Strategy to ensure that cultural links with our partners in Europe and beyond are developed further, as well as providing wellbeing in the form of jobs and commissions to new and existing artists. Creative Scotland work with festivals to maximise the opportunities for both emerging and established creative artists to showcase and tour their work at home and abroad.

Scottish Government funding for Platforms for Cultural Excellence (PLaCE) (with Creative Scotland administering for the Scottish Government) has an emphasis on delivering Ministerial priorities around wellbeing, community engagement, and bringing arts into schools and educational settings with less engaged communities.
