Scottish Regulators Strategic Code of Practice: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

You asked for information regarding who is responsible in the Scottish Government for monitoring compliance with the Scottish Regulators Strategic Code of Practice.

Response

The answer to your question is that this is a voluntary Code of Practice, setting out how Scottish regulators should apply regulatory principles and build good practice when setting regulations.

There has never been nor intended to be any central monitoring of compliance by the Scottish Government. This should be covered within existing individual reporting or monitoring arrangements that regulators have in place independently. The Code of Practice as a policy is managed by the Business Support Transformation Division within the Scottish Government.
