Court of Session costs: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.


Information requested

The total cost of the Scottish Government’s decision to appeal the FOI commissioners ruling to the Court of Session. Please include all related court/lawyers fees, all money spent on the process to appeal. Please give me a clear breakdown of the costs. (who paid for what etc).

Response

The answer to your question is that the total cost incurred to date is £25,000 plus £5,000 VAT. These costs relate to the securing of external legal advice and representation in court from external counsel. These costs were met by the Scottish Government.
