Software supplier for McCloud remedy calculations: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

1. What company is currently awarded the contract for providing software programs to the SPPA to work out the remedy calculations under the McCloud judgement for retired officers awaiting remedy?

2. What is the value of this contract?

Response

1. The SPPA has a contract with Heywood Pension Technologies (HPT) to provide the hosted software service which is used to administer the Police pensions. HPT are also providing some of the calculation solutions as necessitated by Remedy, however where they are not able to do so, the SPPA is creating the calculations.

2. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Public Pensions Agency does not have the information you have requested. We do not hold this information as the software provided by HPT is not Remedy specific so we cannot break down the total contract cost to provide a standalone figure for software programs that work out remedy calculations specifically. The total contract value for 5 years is in the region of £5 million which includes the provision of various services, such as the transition to the cloud as well as support, maintenance, and licence usage. There are a number of elements within the HPT contract that SPPA may/may not invoke so we are unable to provide a specific figure for the overall contract.
