Payments to the Scottish Islamic Foundation in 2008 between Feb and May: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

You commented that 'I understand the Scottish government made several payments to the Scottish Islamic Foundation in 2008 between Feb and end may. This was prior to its incorporation.' and then asked 'please can you provide the name on the recipient bank account, since Scottish Islamic Foundation did not yet exist when the money was remitted? No further account details are requested.'

Response

The answer to your question is the Scottish Islamic Foundation.

For your information (outwith the scope of your FOI request), banks did not provide a facility for validation of the bank account name in 2008 only the account number and sort code. The Scottish Government Finance Team at the time would have had no indication if a name on an account differed from the payee name used to process the payment.
