The death of a looked after child: guidance

Revised guidance to clarify the roles and responsibilities of agencies specifically in relation to the notification requirements under regulation 6 of the 2009 Regulations on the death of looked after children.

2 In accordance with the duty of candour procedure under sections 21 and 22 of the Health (Tobacco, Nicotine etc. and Care) (Scotland) Act 2016 (and relevant regulations).

3 For example, section 51(3) of the Public Services Reform (Scotland) Act 2010 provides that the Care Inspectorate must provide advice to Scottish Ministers; and section 55 provides that at the request of the Scottish Minister, the Care Inspectorate must carry out an inspection of any social service, including a service provided to a particular child.
