The STEM bursary advisory group last met on 9 February 2022.  As requested, I have attached the papers for that meeting which include:

  • Remit of the advisory group
  • Note of meeting

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because an exemption under section s38(1)b (personal information) of FOISA applies to that information. You may wish to note data protection legislation; UKGDPR and DPA 2018 are derivatives of the Human Rights Act. Their purpose is to uphold the rights of individuals in relation to their data and privacy. This exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.

You may wish to note that the STEM bursary scheme was expanded last year to include Gaelic as a secondary subject, and Gaelic medium across all secondary subjects and in primary, and renamed to the Teaching bursary scheme.

We are in the process of establishing the Teaching Bursary Advisory Group which will consider arrangements for this year’s scheme, and a date has not yet been arranged. Therefore this is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.

This exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
