Unlocking the value of data - public engagement: literature review

This report highlights the findings from a literature review commissioned by the Scottish Government on public engagement regarding the use of public sector data by or with the private sector over the last 10 years both in the UK and internationally.

Footnotes

1. Some of the documents included findings from reviews undertaken alongside primary data collection, but where this was the case, findings from reviews were not included in the analysis, and thus not coded.

2. Many studies that used deliberative methods included an initial questionnaire and/or an exist questionnaire, but they are here nonetheless counted as a qualitative only rather than as mixed methods. Where a questionnaire was a separate part of a wider study that also included qualitative methods, the study is counted as having used mixed quantitative and qualitative methods.
